Cards lose MAC opener to Northern Illinois

The Ball State football team and Northern Illinois played seesaw game until the fourth quarter, when the Huskies ran away with a 41-29 win.

The Cardinals competed with the Huskies until the end of the third quarter when Northern went on a 13-0 streak that would win the game.

Ball State led the game in nearly every offensive categlory, yet lost the game due to several key turnovers and plays. The third quarter with the Cardinals in the red zone preparing to score, an interception took the Huskies all the way to the four yardline and began the 13-0 run.

Special teams contributed to the loss due to a 64 yard punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, which was the last score for the Huskies.

The Cardinals will go against MAC West rivals Toledo on the road next week.
