Women's volleyball team seeks to continue momentum

Cards return home this weekend to face Morehead State

After finishing runner-up with a 2-1 record in the UNLV Gameworks Classic this past weekend, the Ball State women's volleyball team returns to Worthen Arena to host Morehead State tonight.

The Cardinals (2-4) will be looking to continue their momentum from the weekend's tournament as they play their fourth match in five days. To stay on the winning track, Ball State will look to freshman outside attacker Sarah Obras, who in only her second week of collegiate volleyball play was named to the UNLV Gameworks Classic all-tournament team. Offensively, senior outside attacker Katie Butts will also help the Cardinals. Butts moved into the top 10 in the BSU all-time kills record book on Friday against Texas Tech by recording 13 kills.

Morehead State will come into Tuesday's match with a 2-5 record. The Eagles went 1-2 this past weekend as they lost to Kansas and Hofstra, but defeated Saint Peter's. They will be led into action by Amy Almond, who leads the team in kills with 149 and is third on the squad in digs with 78. Defensively, Lisa Shepherd, who has 146 digs, leads Morehead State. The MSU team has four Indiana natives on the team, including Burris graduate Cherelle Limpkins and Yorktown grad Jennie Burrell.

This will be the Cardinals first match in Worthen Arena since having their 42 match home court win streak snapped by USC in the first game of the season.
