The Ball State women's volleyball team will host the Radisson Hotel Roberts Classic Volleyball Tournament this weekend. The lineup will feature the Nos. 2 and 3 ranked teams in the country.

The No. 2 team, the University of Nebraska, trails only Stanford in the NCAA rankings. The team finished 31-2 last season and also won the Big 12 Conference with a perfect 20-0 record. One of the country's best volleyball players, setter Greichaly Cepero, returns this year to lead the Huskers.

The No. 3 team, the USC Trojans, posted a 25-4 record last year and reached the NCAA Regional Final. With 12 returning letter winners from last year's squad, the Trojans include All American juniors April Ross and Katie Olsovsky, along with senior Lauren Killian as team captain. This is the first time USC has faced Ball State in women's volleyball.

Our women's volleyball team faces repeated scrutiny that it does not face any particularly challenging opponents at home. This weekend, the team has a chance to defend their 42-match winning streak in Worthen Arena by facing both of these nationally ranked opponents.

Our volleyball team may not currently be strong enough to be ranked among the elite, but all teams play better with strong fan support. Show yours by attending the tournament and helping the team prove the critics wrong.
