Cards' Henry signs with Baltimore

Former Ball State baseball player Paul Henry signed a contract with the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.

Henry was selected in the seventh round in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft in June. He is expected to begin his Orioles career with Bluefield, a rookie team in Bluefield, W.Va.

In 2002 Henry had a .332 batting average, 12 home runs, 59 RBI and led the team with 17 doubles. As a pitcher he was 2-4 overall, with three saves, 21 strikeouts, in 24 innings pitched.

Henry left the Cardinals fifth in saves and assists, eighth in RBI and doubles, ninth in relief appearances and tenth in career batting average.

Henry was one of four Ball State baseball players to be drafted in 2002. Bryan Bullington was the No. 1 overall pick by Pittsburgh Pirates and remains unsigned. The No. 32 pick Luke Hagerty was chosen by the Chicago Cubs and has come to an agreement. Senior catcher Doug Boone was selected by the New York Yankees and has come to aggreement on a contract.
