Letter to the editor: Newspaper wrong for printing arrests on front page

Dear editor:

I was outraged at the article "Alcohol, Drug Arrests Made" in Monday's paper. I have always believed the arrests were listed in Thursday's paper, and not the front page.

The personal information given about Eller and Newbauer was totally uncalled for.

Eller's address is not her room number it is her box number. I have never seen a room number given before, only the hall is listed.

Their arrests are not a story; it is a personal matter between the parties involved.

I know some of the information given was incorrect. Their arrest was not a drug bust. Very small amounts of drugs were found.

Why weren't Eller or Newbauer given a chance to give a statement before the article was published? Because Nick Werner was busy the night before is no excuse for him to not contact them for a statement.

Now, Eller and Newbauer are subject to discrimination because Werner cannot follow through completely with an article he is writing.

The editors of this paper need to think before they publish such a damaging and slanderous article.

I have a very different view of everyone involved in this paper.

To the people who read the Daily News, don't believe everything you read.
