Students react to Goshen shooting

Students from Goshen reached immediately for their telephones Thursday afternoon after seeing their hometown appear on the national news.

At around 2:30 p.m., a gunman opened fire at Nu-Wood Decorative Millwork. Many students who saw the story immediately attempted to contact their family at home.

"I was so scared," freshman Ashley Salyer said. "Everyone at home was pretty upset."

Salyer's father worked in the same industrial complex where Nu-Wood is located. She said her father's factory is located a block away from Nu-Wood and was on lockdown with other factories in the complex.

"I have some friends that work in nearby building, and it's all under lockdown," freshman Amy Smith said. "I called my mother and she said it was chaos."
