Harriers finish year at Regionals

The men's cross country team finished their season Saturday in Ypsilanti, Mich. at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The Cardinals finished 21st out of the31-team field, falling short of last season's 15th place finish. Previously, the team had duplicated their 2000 season finish of seventh place at the Mid-American Conference championships.

The Cardinals were led by senior Matt Bliss. In his last collegiate cross country meet, Bliss finished the 10-kilometer race 75th overall (32:51). The remaining Cardinal scorers were sophomore Sal Impellitteri (92nd - 33:07), junior Michael Johnson (124th - 33:47), freshman Andrew Fritz (156th - 34:38) and freshman Michael Olson (165th - 34:54).

Boaz Cheboiywo, from MAC champion Eastern Michigan, won the individual title, setting a course record with a time of 29:52.
