Cards down Illinois State, 172-128

Saturday's women's swimming and diving meet at Illinois State was pivotal for the Cardinals because of the tough losses that they had endured in the week prior to that event. The team needed a win to boost their confidence and get some momentum going again.

Ball State defeated Illinois State 172-128, upping their record to 4-2 on the year.

The Cardinals got top performances from sophomore Kait Martin and junior Melissa Keilen to help lead the way to victory. Keilen had three first place finishes on the day, taking the 200-medley relay, and also winning the 100 and 400-yard relays. Keilin finished with a time of 54.8 seconds in the 100-yard relay and 3:40.4 in the 400 yard event.

Martin won the 100 and 200-yard backstroking events Saturday, and she continues to prove that she may be the most consistent member of the team this year. Martin's time in the 200-yard backstroke was 2:10.0 as she out-swam her nearest competitor by 1.7 seconds.

Ball State also won 5 other events in this meet as they were able to bring home the victory.

The Cards will now prepare for their next meet which will be this Saturday against Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
