Cardinals play strong MAC schedule, No. 1 UConn

Although only half of last season's All Mid-American Conference selections will return to their squads this year, first-year head coach Tracy Roller calls this the toughest MAC schedule since she has been affiliated with Ball State.

"There is not a team on the schedule I am not worried about," Roller said.

Roller also mentioned that almost every team in the conference has someone with potential of earning MAC Player of the Year.

A main team of concern is Kent State, a team who has not lost a home game in 43 outings. Ball State will travel to Kent.

Despite the tough players returning in the conference--Bowling Green's Francine Miller, Miami's (Ohio) Heather Cusick, Western Michigan's Karen Deurloo and others--both Roller and the team have set their goal high. They all firmly believe they are capable of earning a MAC championship.

"It's something that has not been done before," Roller said. The team will be disappointed if they don't play at their highest level. If we continue to get better each day, good things will happen for us."

Also on the schedule for the Cards is pre-season number one, UConn and will prove to be test of Ball State strength.

"Our regular season games build up for tourney time," Roller said.
