BSU student shot off campus

Intruders entered victim's home Tuesday morning, took him to basement

A Ball State student was released from Ball Memorial Hospital Wednesday after he suffered a gunshot wound during an armed robbery.

Michael Roberts, 223 S. College Ave., suffered a handgun wound to his right shoulder after suspects forcibly entered his house and shot him Wednesday morning.

According to witness and police reports, four to five men carrying handguns knocked on the victim's door around 1:40 a.m. and forced their way into his house. One suspect then shot the victim, forced him and a friend downstairs into the basement and took their wallets and other possessions.

Witnesses described two suspects, one white male standing 5'11'' to 6'0" wearing all black and a mask, and one "possibly black" male, 6'1'' to 6'2'' wearing all gray and a mask. They were unable to provide descriptions of any other suspects involved.

Police were unable to provide any other information about the suspects and are still investigating a possible motive.

Sources close to the victim said he had no known enemies at the time of the robbery.
