BSU Student injured after homecoming game undergoes back surgery

A Ball State student is now a patient at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana in Indianapolis after having back surgery at Methodist Hospital, also in Indianapolis on Oct. 26, according to a press release from University Relations.

Andrew Bourne, 21 of Liberty was seriously injured Oct. 20 when fans tore down the goal posts after a Ball State football game. He was rushed to Ball Memorial Hospital and placed in the intensive care unit there until he was taken to Methodist Hospital where he remained in the neuro-intensive care unit awaiting a back operation.

A benefit fund was established at the Bath State Bank. Any contributions should be addressed to the Andrew Bourne Benefit Fund, c/o Bath State Bank, P.O. Box 10, Bath, IN 47010.
