The famous chirping Scramble Light at Ball State will remain off until classes begin in the fall.

Due to campus construction in the area with Riverside being closed, the traffic light intersection of North McKinley Ave. and Riverside Ave. has been turned off and transformed into a three-way stop with stop signs posted.

The Star Press reports that for the next few days the red lights will flash at the intersection, but will eventually stop.

Because of the construction, the light for pedestrians crossing the intersection diagonally is also not working, but Jim Lowe, Ball State’s associate vice president for facilities planning and management told The Star Press he is not worried as traffic in the area is light compared to the school year.
