Indiana State Excise Police Officers made numerous arrests and issued several citations this weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Officers issued citations or arrested 15 juveniles, 139 minors and 40 adults on 245 preliminary charges.
Out of the 245 charges, 149 of the charges include illegal possession or consumption of alcohol, possession of false identification, furnishing alcohol to minors and 48 charges were drug related.
Last year during the Indianapolis 500, officers cited 20 juveniles, 130 minors and 38 adults on 263 charges.
"Our objective during the Indianapolis 500 weekend is to help to ensure that everyone attending has a safe environment in which to enjoy the festivities," said Superintendent Matt Strittmatter. "The combination of alcohol and other intoxicating substances often bring out the worst behavior in people, which can compromise the safety of race fans."
While law enforcement agencies did receive numerous questions regarding security plans for the Indy 500, they did not release any details that "could educate the very element that seeks to do harm."
ISP Public Information Officer Sgt. John Perrine and Wayne Township Fire Department Public Information Officer Capt. Michael Pruitt made a video for people to remember if you "see something, say something," and released it on Friday before the event.
