The Ball State men’s basketball team shot just 29.8 percent from the field, falling to James Madison 72-52 Wednesday at Worthen Arena.

Sophomores Zavier Turner and Franko House each scored nine points to lead Ball State. Turner added six assists and five rebounds, while House’s six boards led the team.

The 52 points scored are a season low for the Cardinals, who were 17-of-57 from the floor and 6-of-23 from three-point range.

James Madison jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead before a 12-to-6 Ball State run made the score to 17-14. It was the closest the Cardinals got for the remainder of the game.

At halftime, James Madison led 30-23 and outscored Ball State 42-29 in the second half.

Freshman forward Sean Sellers left the game in the second half with what looked like a right knee injury. However, he later returned to Ball State’s bench.

Sellers entered the game, averaging 14.6 points per contest, tying with Turner for the lead on the team, but finished with two points and two rebounds.

Junior Bo Calhoun finished the game with eight points and six rebounds. James Madison outrebounded Ball State 44-27.

As a team, Ball State shot 12-of-18 from the foul line, while James Madison hit 15-of-17.

Ball State drops to 3-5 on the season with the loss and will look to snap a two-game losing streak at 10 p.m. Dec. 20 at No. 19 San Diego State.
