The Ball State women's volleyball team dropped its first match of the day, falling to Eastern Illinois 3-1.

The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 advantage, holding a .431 attack percentage through the first two sets. 

Junior Kelly Hopkins led the Cardinals in kills for the second consecutive game with 13. Outside hitter Alex Fuelling added 11 kills, while Hayley Benson had 10.

Ball State hit just .143 on 47 kills as a team. 

The Cardinals recorded six aces and 58 team digs, with libero Kati Vasalakis having a team-high 24.

Ball State will conclude the Ball State Active Ankle Challenge at 8 p.m. Aug. 30 against Northern Colorado.
