Ball State slips past Sacred Heart for second time this season

It took a late effort for Ball State to rally past Sacred Heart on Jan. 29.

More than a month later, things haven't changed between the two teams.

With sophomores Greg Herceg and Dan Wichmann leading the way, Ball State slipped past Sacred Heart 23-25, 25-13, 20-25, 25-14, 16-14 at Worthen Arena on Sunday.

The two teams battled back and forth in the first four sets to pull even going into the final game. After falling behind 9-2 in the fifth frame, Ball State quickly rallied to tie the score at 12 before taking the 16-14 win.

Herceg tallied 12 kills to lead the Cardinals, while Anders Nelson and Larry Wrather each had eight.

Wichmann, in his fourth career start, had 39 assists on the night to along with three kills and three digs.

Ball State travels to Columbus, Ohio, on Friday to take on No. 5 Ohio State for the second time this season before playing Princeton on Saturday.
