WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING: Ball State to host Eastern Illinois

If Laura Seibold-Caudill could pick a place to have her team's home swim meets, it might not be Lewellen Pool. Over the past two seasons, the Ball State University women's swimming and diving team is undefeated at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI. The Cardinals will look to continue that streak on Saturday in a four-way dual at IUPUI. Before they can, however, they will host Eastern Illinois University Friday night at Lewellen.

GYMNASTICS: Ball State to host exhibition against Kentucky

Coach Nadalie Walsh is trying to answer one question."It's still early, but where are we as a team?" she said.Walsh hopes to find answers this Saturday when the Ball State University women's gymnastics team hosts the University of Kentucky in an exhibition meet at 1 p.m. in Worthen Arena. This will be the first exhibition meet that the Cardinals have held during Walsh's tenure. In previous seasons, the team has held an intrasquad exhibition to prepare for the regular season, she said.

MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING: Ball State hoping to end semester on high note

Although the calendar has turned the page to December, the Ball State University men's swimming and diving team has no intentions of getting an early start on Winter Break. On Friday, Ball State hosts Eastern Illinois University at 6 p.m. The Cardinals get no rest as they head to Indianapolis the following day to take part in a quad-meet against IUPUI, Western Illinois University and Saint Louis University. It will be the second time that the Cardinals have traveled to IUPUI this season, as they placed second in the IUPUI House of Champions tournament November 13 and 14.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards have worst offensive output since 1952 season

Trapped in a corner, Pierre Sneed pivoted four times with the ball and looked toward the Ball State University bench for answers on the opposite side of the court.The lost feeling on offense was a common one in the Cardinals' game last night against No. 23 Butler University.Ball State scored just 11 points in a first half where it shot 4-of-21 (19 percent) from the field and dug too deep of a hole in its 59-38 loss to Butler.

FOOTBALL: Three Cardinals net Second Team All-MAC honors

A trio of Cardinals have been named to the All-Mid-American Conference Second Team.Defensive ends senior Brandon Crawford and junior Robert Eddins, as well as senior running back MiQuale Lewis were voted onto the team by the MAC's 13 head coaches.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Former Ball State star Newell overcomes tragic injury to star in Italy

Anthony Newell and Bob Simmons sat in a room within the bowels of the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, Mich., as they awaited an ambulance to take them to a nearby hospital.Just minutes prior, Newell was laying on the Convocation Center court, unable to move after landing awkwardly on his right leg while attempting a rebound in the second half of Ball State University's 46-42 win last season at Eastern Michigan University.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals go from undefeated to .500 over break

The Ball State University men's basketball team entered Thanksgiving Break undefeated and in anticipation of both its first road game of the season and a home matchup against a team some considered to be a simple task.But after those two games, the Cardinals find themselves at 2-2 and looking for answers at the wrong time. Ball State begins its toughest stretch of the non-conference schedule on Wednesday with a home game against Butler University, which is ranked No. 12 in the nation.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: McDonald breaks Ball State record in win

There is a new 3-point queen on the Ball State University women's basketball team (3-3). Her name is Audrey McDonald. McDonald, a senior guard, entered Sunday's game against the University of North Dakota (1-5) needing four 3s to take the top spot in the record book with 254 made 3-point baskets. In the process of sinking those 3s, Ball State defeated North Dakota 89-77.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – In the waning days of Ball State University's season, coach Stan Parrish talked a lot about the kind of legacy this year's seniors would leave.They will probably be best remembered for their contributions during the Cardinals' back-to-back bowl appearances, but defensive end Brandon Crawford will be memorialized for his leadership.

If most basketball teams want to win close contests down the stretch and convert zero shots in the final eight minutes of the game, then free throw shooting typically becomes critical to winning or losing.The Ball State University men's basketball team did exactly that Saturday afternoon against the University of California-Davis by not making a single shot from the field in the final 8:19 of the second half.

CROSS COUNTRY: Bishel falls 20 seconds shy of being All-American

Despite shedding three seconds off her season-best six-kilometer time, redshirt junior Ali Bishel finished in 67th place at the 2009 NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday afternoon."You go into it to run the best race and beat as many people as you can," cross country coach Randy Heisler said. "Realistically you know your PR and those of the other people. It was a season-best time for Ali; so from that perspective she did well."

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards look to start Thanksgiving Break off on right foot

Tonight's game against Valparaiso University (3-0) will be a battle for in-state bragging rights. Ball State (1-2) enters the contest coming off a hard-fought victory over Northern Arizona University (0-4) on Saturday.The Crusaders could be one of the toughest challenges the Cardinals will see early this season. Valparaiso is off to its best start in program history with three straight wins, but hasn't taken to the road yet.
