Ball State win three games at Bulldog classic

Ball State traveled to Kentucky to take part in the Velvet Milkman Invitational. In the event hosted by Murray State, the Cardinals won three games out of five.
Ball State started its season in the Blazer Bash tournament in Birmingham, Alabama. In its last game of the weekend, sophomore starting pitcher Angelina Russo threw her second no-hitter and Ball State’s 18th since 1980.
Ball State Softball’s first two seasons under head coach Lacy Schurr’s direction have been two different stories. In her first season, the COVID-19 season, the Cardinals went 37-18. The team broke a handful of program records including the most Mid-American Conference (MAC) wins (31) and the longest MAC winning streak with 16 games. Ball State also broke multiple statistical records including the best batting average (.329) and on-base percentage (.415) for a single season.
Indiana District 6 is set to play host to both the 2022 Little League Baseball Indiana State Tournament and the Junior League Softball Central Regional. These two tournaments are scheduled to overlap, as the Little League Baseball Tournament is scheduled for July 22-27 and the Junior League Softball Tournament is scheduled for July 20-25.
Delaware County had two high school softball teams compete for a Regional Championship May 31 and each took home their respective trophies, as Yorktown High School and Cowan High School each advance to the Semi-State Semifinals.
Mid-American Conference (MAC) Softball Awards were announced May 11, as voted by the head coaches of each team in the conference, where Ball State took home five awards.
In the last series of the year, Ball State Softball wins its series 2-1 against Akron, however each team misses out on the Mid-American Conference Tournament.

Playing in its second three-game series of the week, Ball State Softball (19-25, 8-12 MAC) won one of three games against Buffalo (17-20, 8-11 MAC).
Russo’s perfect game helped cap off a three-game sweep for Ball State (18-23, 11-6 MAC) over Western Michigan. After defeating the Broncos 4-3 April 19, the Cardinals won both of their games April 20 by a score of 5-0.
The jerseys they have worn have told the stories of the paths each Wynn has carved. Even when they aren’t competing, sports will always be around, connecting the family just like it has time and time again.
After their doubleheader was pushed back from Saturday to Sunday due to weather concerns, Ball State Softball (13-21, 6-5 MAC) wrapped up a three-game series against Mid-American Conference (MAC) rival Ohio (15-18, 9-5 MAC) April 11 with a walk-off home run from sophomore infielder Kayla Lissy in the bottom of the seventh inning.
With just under a month left before the Mid-American Conference Tournament, Ball State Softball (12-19, 5-3 MAC) went 2-1 in a midweek series against Northern Illinois (9-17, 3-8 MAC) to put them in fourth place in the MAC.
Ball State (10-18, 3-2 MAC) earned its first three wins in conference play this weekend, defeating Kent State (9-17, 1-7 MAC) 8-5 and 4-1 April 1 and 11-3 April 2.
In the series opener, the Cardinals didn't score a run in the first six innings while the Chippewas scored three runs in that span. Ball State’s drought was ended by a three-run home run hit by senior outfielder Faith Hensley in the seventh inning to tie the score at three runs apiece.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, senior left fielder Faith Hensley stepped up to bat with the bases loaded. Towson senior pitcher Julia Jackson walked Hensley, advancing all baserunners, and sophomore right fielder Kaitlyn Mathews walked to home base to claim the 3-2 victory
In Ball State Softball's first action of the season, they traveled to Chicago for the DePaul Dome Tournament.
Ball State (27-16, 21-6 MAC) used an extra inning in Sunday’s game to even the four-game series with Toledo (22-19. 12-13 MAC) over the weekend.
All of them — pitcher Alyssa Rothwell, infielder/outfielder Gabby Magnifico, outfielder Haley Dominique, infielder Janae Hogg and outfielder Kennedy Wynn — were thankful to have the opportunity to play one final season in the cardinal and white.
