Ball State athletes, coaches react to season cancellations

On March 12, the Mid-American Conference made the announcement it would be canceling regular season, championship and non-traditional competition for the rest of the 2019-20 academic school year in concern with the coronavirus (COVID-19). Here is how Ball State athletes and coaches reacted to the announcement.

Mixed results lead Ball State to 6th in Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play

Luck was not on the Cardinals’ side at the ninth-annual Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play in Dade City, Florida. Despite entering the tournament as the No. 1 seed, Ball State placed sixth out of eight teams at the invitational after splitting both its matches Monday, followed by a loss to fellow Mid-American Conference rival Bowling Green in the fifth-place match Tuesday.

Ball State just had one of the most successful fall seasons in recent years. Thanks to a home-tournament victory, top team finishes throughout the season and a few Cardinals hitting their stride, Ball State is a threat in the Mid-American Conference heading into the offseason.
