Abstraction: Gay is still normal

There is still this looming idea that LGBTQ people are different. We are seen as special, unique, brave, edgy, but all those adjectives give off the same impression: we’re still different.

Hunger Action Month at Ball State

September is Hunger Action Month, which is a month-long campaign bringing awareness to food insecurity. On a college campus, it can be difficult to spot food insecurity. Food insecurity might be as simple as skipping a meal, or having to choose between buying something to eat or buying a college textbook. Cardinal Kitchen is a safe place for students to come and get necessities. Cardinal Kitchen is one of the ways that Ball State students are helping combat uncertainty on campus.

Taliban guard says last US planes have flown out of Kabul

A Taliban guard at Kabul’s airport said the last U.S. planes have flown out of Afghanistan and celebratory gunfire erupted across the Afghan capital, marking the symbolic end of 20 years of war. In Washington, the U.S. confirmed the withdrawal of its last troops, which faced a self-imposed deadline of Aug. 31 from President Joe Biden.
