After the first two games of the season, Ball State football is 0-2 with a combined 89-17 deficit. Granted, the Cardinals have arguably had the toughest opening two weeks of a season in program history, but the red and white find themselves at a crossroads moving forward.

ATHENS, GA. –– Being from Muncie, I have had my fair share of experience with football. I experience it every Friday night when I cover one of the four Delaware County high school football teams for the Ball State Daily News. With Ball State in the heart of Muncie, the Cardinals are always talked about each fall.
ATHENS, GA. –– Cardinal fans flocked south of Muncie for the weekend to Sanford Stadium to see Ball State take on No. 1 Georgia. 651 miles separate the two schools.
ATHENS, GA. –– Kadin Semonza’s High School, Mission Viejo, holds 8,000 fans for a football game. The University of Georgia’s Sanford Stadium holds 92,746 fans for a football game.
ATHENS, GA. – Ball State fans might have thought the Cardinals had a chance at the end of the first quarter as their game was tied at zero. Then reality set in.
Yorktown (2-2, 0-2 HHC) fell to .500 on the season after a 22-13 loss to Delta (4-0, 2-0 HHC) on the Eagles’ Senior Night.
“This is the type of stage that you dream about,” Mike Neu said. “You dream about playing in atmospheres like this.”

LEXINGTON, KY. – While his teammates quietly collected their Raising Cane’s meals as they quickly made their way to the Ball State team bus, Caden Johnson stood off to the side in a pile of gravel and rock.
LEXINGTON, KY.– Following Ball State’s 30-point loss to Kentucky, Mike Neu sat down behind a white, collapsible table in a small room underneath the bleachers at Kroger Field. With a MacBook in front of him, he demonstrated the attitude of ‘business as usual.’
A game full of injuries, touchdown drives, turnovers and a whole lot more ended with a 44-14 loss for the Cardinals.
Wes-Del football was on the cusp of its first win of the 2023-24 campaign as they led Greenwood Christian Academy 26-22 with 3:56 left in the fourth quarter.
