There is only one message for Ball State going into their final meet of the 2023-24 season, finish strong. The Cardinals did just that by walking away from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) National Invitational Championship with a handful of success that they can end their season with their heads held high.

Ball State’s swim and dive teams found themselves on opposite sides of the win and loss column in their final meets of the regular season. The women’s team claimed a win against Bellarmine (145.5-58.5) while the men’s team suffered a loss to end the season against Southern Illinois (181-118).

Ball State men’s swim and dive arrived in Oxford, Ohio to take on the RedHawks for their first duel of the 2024 calendar year. Win, and stay undefeated on the season. However, the reigning Mid-American Conference (MAC) champions had other plans.

On a gloomy day, the Cardinals ended their 2023 season with a shutout loss in East Lansing Michigan to the Spartans 4-0. The loss marks their second consecutive road loss and their third loss in four games to end the season.

It was a gloomy and wet afternoon at the Briner Sports Complex, as the Mountaineers dealt a crucial blow to Ball State on senior day 1-0. With emotions running high, Ball State fought with seven seniors, Emma Hilton, Elyse Horner, Maureen Donegan, Paloma Gomez Rengifo, Rachel Bohn and Hannah Johnston being celebrated as they played their final home game in a Cardinals uniform.

It was a chilly and windy afternoon in Muncie, but spirits were warm for Ball State. All it took to raise those spirits was one shot from senior midfielder Emma Hilton to pull off an upset over Indiana University in a 3-2 shootout.

The worst-case scenario for the Cardinals came to be as Bellarmine capitalized on self-inflicted errors by Ball State, sealing a 3-2 comeback win in overtime. The Knights hand the Cardinals their fourth loss in a row, as well as their third straight Mid-American Conference (MAC) loss.

The Cardinals came into Longwood, Virginia. looking to get back in the win column after dropping their last two games. However, the Lancers proved to be too much as they earned their first conference win of the season in a home win against Ball State 3-2.

It was a tightly contested battle as Ball State and Davidson clashed under the Friday night lights. However, the lights shined on the Wildcats as they earned a 1-0 victory over the Cardinals.

It was not long ago when the Cardinals sat with a 0-4 record and a nine-game regular season losing streak. However, in a matter of days, Ball State has come together and rallied to win their fifth straight game in commanding fashion against Lindenwood 5-0 to push their record to 5-4. The Cardinals are also above .500 for the first time since mid-October of last year and also remain unbeaten on their home field.

The Cardinals are soaring as Ball State takes down Central Michigan in a 4-0 shutout to stretch their winning streak to four, their longest since 2006. Ball State improves to 2-0 in MAC (Mid-American Conference) play marking the second time in a row that the Cardinals have started 2-0 in the MAC standings.
