MUNCIE, Ind. — Every fourth Tuesday of the month, at Pruis Hall, student members of Navigators gather for “Nav Night.” This is an evening filled with singing, games, fellowship and a spiritual message.
Logan Watson, the campus director of the Navigators, has led the group for six years. Watson says that the mission for navigators is to give students a chance to explore their faith.
“We just want to be a safe space, a safe community for students to really explore faith,” said Watson.
Watson also said that Navigators has been on campus for decades.
“Navigators has had a rich history,” Watson said. “ Navigators first got on campus in the 70s, before my time, before I was born, and had different periods of dying out and coming back.”
Navigators has been an integral part of Ball State’s history. The group has been active since 2008.
Junior Dazha Montalvo joined the group during her freshman year and has been an active member ever since.
“There was a call-out meeting for people to get to know each other,” Montalvo said.
“It was a volleyball event and my roommate and I were just walking around campus, and we saw a lot of people by Noyer courts, and that’s when I found out what Navs was.”
Since then, Montalvo said she has become stronger in her journey with faith.
“I was just looking for a community where I could be myself and stay on the right path, and that would be my friends. What Navigators means to me is community.”
In addition to the “Nav Nights,” Navigators host events throughout the year, including a fall and spring retreat and Bible study groups throughout the year to establish a sincere connection with each other and through faith.
