MUNCIE, Ind.- This past Friday, Ball State’s field hockey team faced off in a match vs. Bellarmine University, in which this game marked the team’s senior/alumni day on a game that featured no shortage of excitement and emotions.

The Cards struck first in the second period, making it 1-0, then later that period, Bellarmine matched that with a score of their own.

Junior forward, Julia Veratti, came through with the game-winning goal to give the Cardinals the edge over Bellarmine.

This day meant the world to most, some traveling far and wide to share this moment with fellow seniors and alumni.

Senior back, Jessica Rochat described what it meant to the people closest to her.

“My parents came from South Africa... It just means the world to me to get a win on this day, I can’t even put it into words.”

On a day filled with emotions, it was echoed by other teammates what a win on this day means to them and individuals.

“It meant everything to get a win today and do it for our seniors.” Senior forward, Grace Clokie mentioned. “I just feel like I’ve grown so much in my time here from coming on and now being a starter.”

Without a doubt, it was a special day for the team and the team’s respective seniors that will be reflected on for a long time. The team's next game is this Friday at Briner Sports Complex at 1 p.m..
