MUNCIE, Ind (NewsLink Indiana)—When Ball State freshman Noah Waechter walked into Worthen Arena on February 16, he didn’t know he would walk out $10,000 richer. He was just there to attend the Ball State Cardinals' basketball game against the Akron Zips.
Waechter was chosen to participate in a challenge called “Crack The Vault” during the game, where a participant shoots a basketball from half-court. If they sink the shot, they win $10,000. Waechter’s shot was nothing but net.
“[The shot] has been a lifelong dream ever since I’ve been going to these games,” Waechter said. “Back then, they did a similar promotion called shoot for loot. I just remember me and my friend, my friend Jake, we would always watch them do the promotion, and we were like dude if we got the chance to do a half-court shot, we would 100% make it.”
Waechter says that there is some discrepancy, however, on whether his foot was over the half-court line or not. He says he should know if he officially won the cash on February 19.
The next home basketball game is February 19 against the Miami Redhawks.
