MUNCIE, Ind-  MD’s Golf Academy is a practice facility used for golfers to improve their game all year round. The practice center has indoor and outdoor putting greens and heated driving range spaces, making Md’s a popular destination during the winter months.

“It gives [golfers] the opportunity to practice 12 months out of the year, after dark, seven days a week, inclement weather, when it's raining. In times where traditionally in the past we wouldn't have the opportunity to play or practice, MDs allows them to do that,” Doug Bishop, the owner of MD’s Golf Academy.

While other golf courses are closing for the winter, MD’s will still be open and thriving.

“I usually tell most people as long as it's about 25 to 30 degrees or warmer, you can still get out here and hit balls cause we’ve got the heaters out here,” Cody Blevins,

MD’s was opened by Doug Bishop in 1998. Bishop graduated playing golf at Ball State University and is a PGA professional. He shared his knowledge of golf by giving lessons to all levels of players at MD’s Golf Academy.

“We get everything from four-year-olds to 95-year-olds. Men, women, old, young. Just whoever wants to work on their golf game. That's kind of the unique thing about golf that it's a never-ending quest, unlike bowling, that has a perfect score; golf has no perfect score. So there is no ceiling in terms of how good someone gets, so it's always this drive and this quest to get better that drives golfers to continue to try and improve,” Bishop said.

As it starts to get colder and people want to spend more time inside, members of MD’s Golf Range will continue to be in action. The covered, heated spaces outside will warm golfers as they practice their swings in the winter months.
