MUNCIE, Ind. — One family’s love for boba has affected the community in a lot of ways. Positivitea was created in 2023 to give Muncie a more diverse option for drinks.
“The owner, Belle, and her husband were working there, so it was just the two owners and their kid would sometimes come in, but they were always super inviting and had a very large boba menu, so I was impressed because at the time Muncie wasn’t as diverse,” Hanna Tran, a loyal customer, states.
Offering a wide variety of drinks and desserts, Positivitea has become a hub for the members of the community, whether it’s for some refreshments or a solid conversation.
“All of it goes back to their roots, you know, growing up in the Philippines, trying different flavors that they have tried growing up as a kid, and basically incorporating it here,” the main barista, Onnie Adams, said.
The shop dives into a fun and exciting way to drink your drink, while also learning about new cultures and experiences.
“Not only do we educate them on the syrups and the different ingredients we can put in, but we also ask, like ‘Hey, how’s your day?’ or ‘Does your kid like this drink?’” Tran explained.
The family strives to serve the community, not just the boba fans, but everyone. Having an opportunity to modify your own drink with any of the options.
“The beauty of boba is the texture of it, so it comes with like jellys, and tapioca chewing boba and popping jelly, and I think that’s the fun and beauty of the boba drink itself,” said Tran.
