MUNCIE, Ind. — Downtown Muncie, Trust Federal Credit Union and Second Harvest Food Bank are coming together to host the 2025 ArtsWalk and Soup Crawl. The Soup Crawl has benefited the Second Harvest Food Bank providing over 467,000 meals for those in need. The soup crawl is collecting donations through bowls, soup bowls to be specific. These bowls will be used to taste soup from restaurants all over Muncie. Artists from Muncie, Delaware County, and surrounding counties are all donating bowls for the Soup Crawl.

“Not only does it build the community itself, but I think it allows people to see their impact immediately. With Second Harvest, I think they have done a really good job of promoting and presenting Soup Crawl, and I think this is just an added bonus,” says Made in Muncie Owner, Toren Scott.

Made in Muncie Pottery is partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank in this year's soup crawl. Scott has been sculpting clay for over thirty years, and this is the first time he’s worked with Second Harvest. The bowls involved in the crawl are all donated and hand-made. The proceeds from ticket sales and the donated bowls all go back to the food bank, and that's really what it's all about.

“So it doesn't have to be about the soup, but it's about supporting the second harvest, and you know, there is also a sustainability thing to where you get to reuse this thing over and over again, and it's not disposable,” explains Scott.

Made in Muncie has already made 100 bowls for the event. Along with other local artists, Made in Muncie has made and collected over 300 bowls in total. Although there is no monetary gain for them through donating, Made in Muncie still sees the benefits.

"There's something really eloquent about hand-thrown things, I think any craft of that nature is something that we need today. For me, you know again after COVID, Muncie kinda came back and made sure that I stayed in business. So being able to give back in any way is super important to me,” said Scott.

This event is not only a way to give back to the community, but it's an opportunity to show that although these bowls were made for soup, they were also made for the soul. To get your hands on one of these handmade creations, you can either purchase a ticket online or visit the store during the Soup Crawl. The Soup Crawl and Artswalk is happening on October 2nd.
