MUNCIE, Ind. — Located in the heart of Ball State's campus, Bracken Library is a space that students use daily.

On September 9, students and staff came together in celebration of Bracken Library’s 50th anniversary. Kicking off the celebration at 6 p.m., the library’s space was decorated with banners highlighting the past, with archival photographs of the space and some old faculty pictures. To go along with the decor, the library served delicious treats and refreshments.

The faculty and student volunteers were happy to speak with the community about everything they love about Bracken.

“The thing I love the most about Bracken Library is the people,” said Nick Havranek, the Engagement Strategies Coordinator.

“Everyone is super eager to help students and community members.”

Serenaded with live music played by Ball State students, the library’s birthday party was a display of talents and admiration for the space.

University alumna and Grammy award winner, Angelin Chang, was a guest speaker at the event and spoke on her strong belief in the grounding principles of creativity and how Bracken was just the place to nourish it.

“I love that it has a space for everyone to just do them,” explained Gavin Helton, a Ball State student who attended the celebration.
