As the Ball State women’s golf season nears its end with only two competitions remaining, the Cardinals headed to Richmond, Kentucky, for the EKU Colonel Classic to take on a field of 15 teams from across the country.
Ball State finished the competition in 7th after a strong opening day performance that was headlined by sophomores Jasmine Driscoll and Madelin Boyd, as the formerly two-day competition was cut short due to weather conditions.
Driscoll finished the event as the top individual scorer for the Cardinals, shooting scores of 75 (3-over-par) in both of the Colonel Classic’s opening rounds. She finished in 11th place individually and was backed up by Boyd, who finished two strokes behind to finish in 21st place.
Matching her season average of 75.04 in both rounds, Driscoll continues to lead the Cardinals in scoring average.
The rest of Ball State’s scorers, junior Sabrina Langerak, sophomore Sarah Gallagher and freshman JJ Gregston, each tied for 53rd place with scores of 158 (14-over-par) apiece.
The Cardinals’ individual golfer, freshman Jenna Estravillo, finished the competition in 83rd with a combined total of 166 (22-over-par).
Heading into the final stretch of the season, Ball State will be back in action on April 13 for their final event before the Mid-American Championship (MAC) as the Cardinals head to Carmel, Indiana, for the IUPUI Jaguar Classic.
