Wapahani senior boys’ basketball player Isaac Andrews was voted the Daily News Athlete of the Week from the week of 2/21-2/28.

“It feels amazing,” Andrews said via text. “The community is a big part of our team. We wouldn’t be where we are without their support.”

Over the last two weeks, the Raiders have won multiple games and were named the sectional No. 40 champions. In the sectional semifinal game against Wes-Del, Andrews became Delaware County’s all-time leading scorer.

The Raiders now face Tipton – the No. 3 team in 2A – at the Lapel regional. To Andrews, there is only one goal.

“The mindset is the same as any other game; to win,” he said. “We have to play our best and play our game.”

The Ball State Daily News will use this program to honor athletes who had an impressive week or a breakout performance. A candidate from each school will be chosen and the community can vote for the winner.

Candidates will be announced every Wednesday with the voting closing on the following Saturday at 5 p.m. If you believe a certain student-athlete should be your school’s candidate, email the Daily News high school sports reporter Zach Carter at zachary.carter@bsu.edu

To vote for the athletes, check the Daily News Sports account on X.
