Yorktown senior basketball player Kieran Tewari was voted the Daily News Athlete of the Week from the week of 1/24-1/31.

“We definitely have the best community for sports [in Delaware County],” Tewari said. “...It's been that way for however many years and you just see it our games.

During that week, Tewari led the Tigers with 19 points and hit the game-winning 3-pointer in Yorktown's 50-48 victory over Carroll.

“I basically knew right then that it was going in,” he said. “It was just an amazing feeling.”

Candidates will be announced every Wednesday with the voting closing on the following Saturday at 5 p.m. If you believe a certain student-athlete should be your school’s candidate, email the Daily News high school sports reporter Zach Carter at zachary.carter@bsu.edu
