Ball State Athletics announced on Thursday that Alex Perry has been hired as the deputy director of athletics, per their website.

The move comes after former deputy director of athletics, Haven Fields, announced on Jan. 5 that he was becoming the deputy athletic director of administration at the University of Washington, via X.

"We have an exceptional administration within Ball State athletics," Ball State Director of Athletics Jeff Mitchell said in a statement. “And I am excited to continue growing the Ball State brand with Alex in this expanded role. He possesses a rich understanding of our plan to grow our department and he elevates our commitment to our culture with his contributions of intelligence and diplomacy. He is a former student-athlete who has refined his administrative skills over the past 12 years, and he has earned great respect from our coaches and staff."

According to Ball State Athletics’ website, Perry has been at Ball State since 2022 and held the position of senior associate athletic director for internal operations. He has had oversight of the athletics department’s events, human resources, and equipment. The new role will also make him the sports administrator for Ball State football.

"I am incredibly grateful to Jeff Mitchell for his belief in me and trusting me with this opportunity," Perry said in a statement. “Ball State is a special place and I look forward to serving our talented student-athletes, coaches, and staff in an expanded role."

Perry graduated from Indiana University and was an offensive linemen on the Hoosiers' football team. During that time, he was a three-time academic Big-Ten honoree.
