Women's Soccer: Ball State v. Kent State recap

MUNCIE, Ind. --- After three wins and two ties in MAC play, Ball State women's soccer looked to keep their unbeaten MAC streak alive against Kent State last Thursday.

To start the game, the junior forward Lexi Fraley’s presence was felt as she scored her first of two goals within the first 13 minutes of the game. Then, with about ten minutes left in the half, Emily Roper scored a goal to put the Cardinals up 2-0 going into the half.

However it wasn’t just the offensive prowess of Ball State that shined. The Cardinals put on a masterclass in defense during the first half, allowing Kent State only two shots on goal in the first half. Coach Rife was impressed with his squad on that end.

“Of course we want a shutout, but to play that way against a conference opponent is good to see," Rife said.

In the second half, the Golden Eagles responded with a quick goal of their own, making it a one-score game. However, the Cards were not fazed, and they managed to finish the game on another Lexi Fraley goal to end the game 3-1. “

"We have that 'bend don’t break' mentality," Rife said.
