Ball State Men’s Golf places ninth out of 14 in the Dorado Beach Collegiate.
The Cardinals traveled down to Dorado Beach Resort and Club (TPC) Sugarcane Course in Puerto Rico. The five-person roster consisted of graduate student Joey Ranieri, sophomore Kash Bellar, redshirt sophomore Griffin Hare, redshirt sophomore Ali Khan, and freshman Carter Smith.
The field included No. 2 Auburn, No. 12 Virginia, No. 31 Duke and No. 39 Cincinnati.
Sunday - Round One
For round one, Bellar shot under-par, a recurring theme of the weekend.
Smith also was under par for the first round. He shot a 1-under-par 71 with three birdies in the round.
Khan was third-best with an even-par 72 followed by Ranieri and Hare who both shot a 2-over-par 74.
At the end of the first day, Ball State was tied with the second-best team in the nation, Auburn.
Monday - Round Two
Bellar again led the Cardinals with a 3-under-par performance. He had four birdies and an eagle on his route to a score of 69.
Ranieri was the only other Ball State player under-par for round two, he shot a 1-under-par score of 71 and had four birdies in his round. Khan shot even par for the second round in a row.
Hare dropped one stroke to shoot a 1-over-par 73 and was followed by Smith who shot a 2-over-par 74.
Tuesday - Round Three
Bellar continued his under-par streak by posting his best score of the tournament yet in the third round. He shot a 5-over-par 67 to finish 12-under-par through his three rounds. His 12-under-par total ties for the second-best 54-hole total in program history with Eric Steger.
Khan broke his even par streak by shooting a 1-under-par 71 in his third round.
Ranieri posted an even-par 72 and was followed by Hare and Smith who both shot a 1-over-par 73.

Closing out their season at the Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City, Ohio, Ball State’s young squad had a lot to prove.
