Editor's note: This story has been updated to reflect a correction made for Ball State's losses this season. The Cardinals fell to James Madison and defeated Louisville.

Ball State Women’s Tennis head coach Max Norris has been placed on administrative leave, according to a statement from Ball State athletics.

“Ball State University has placed the women’s tennis head coach Max Norris on administrative leave pending the completion of an internal review. Because this is a personnel matter, the University cannot comment further at this time,” the statement read.

Ball State Athletic Communications included that it will make no further comments on the topic, and coaches and student-athletes will not be made available for interviews regarding the topic.

Norris, in his 10th season as head coach, and Ball State are 8-2 on the season with losses only coming against Purdue and James Madison.

In 2022, Ball State captured the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship after a win over Toledo at home before dropping its first-round matchup in the NCAA Tournament against Texas.

Graduate assistant coach Rifanty Kahfiani will be stepping in during Norris' absence.

This story will be updated if more information regarding the situation is available.
