The Ball State Student Government Association (SGA) Treasurer Mamed Ramazanli was censured due to not fulfilling his duties.

Those duties included not giving executive reports, not providing budgets and not having good communication with senators.

According to the United States Senate website censure is to express a formal statement of disapproval and is less severe than impeachment or expulsion.

“I just wanted to point out, I don't view the treasurer as our boss, as it was the Senate that elected the treasurer in the first place,” Sen. Casey Rockel said. “Treasurer Ramazanli was elected to represent the student body in two different places. Nothing changes if this is censured”

Ramazanli was censured with a vote of 14-4 with six abstentions.

Katrina Lemming presented for the role of the representative for the College of Sciences and Humanities.

“My biggest goal is to improve the academic experience for those within the college by hosting events and other programming in order to provide an environment for students of different majors to interact with one another,” Lemming said.

Elections Commissioner Chaney Scott presented on behalf of Brianna Morton for the role of debate moderator.

“Some of her qualifications include journalism, she's been writing articles and interviewing people for five years. In this time, she was expected to ask all the questions and be clear on the delivery,” Scott said.

Rockel requested $533.06 for the Community and Environment Committee community garden. The purchase would include a fire pit, mat, foldable chairs and yard games.

SGA President Tina Nguyen gave her State of the Senate.

“First, we'll talk about the sexual assault prevention,” Nguyen said. “We currently have a strong partnership with Anna McGee and Destiny Cherry, and we’ll be in partnership [with] offices and other organizations in order to plan ‘Take Back the Night’ and events leading up to it. We hope to bring a panel or speaker to campus to bring awareness to this topic.”

There was one point of unfinished business, Student Resolution (SR) 01: 22-23, that would create mental health days for the second semester.

The resolution passed 21-2 with four abstentions.

RELATED: Ball State University's Student Government Association passed two amendments, proposed a senate resolution and voted in members.

There were three points of new business. Student Amendment (SA) 07:22-25 would establish further accessibility to executive board office hours. The amendment would require the days and times of the hours to be posted in the office of student life and on the SGA part of the Ball State website.

The second amendment proposed was SA 08: 22-23 which would force the executive board to give a report at every SGA session.

The Studebaker West Hall Council was recognized for their grab n’ go event for residents at the beginning of the semester. The event provided breakfast for over 130 residents

The Community and Environment Committee reported the community garden now has an Instagram account. It is @bsucommunitygarden.
