New art exhibition

A Wild Story is a new printmaker’s collection at David Owsley Museum of Art

MUNCIE, INDIANA..--- The David Owsley Museum of Art (DOMA) is opening a new art exhibition consisting of a never-before-seen printmaker’s collection. This is the first time these works have been on display as a collection and ready for the public to see.

Robert La France, director of DOMA, is excited to introduce these hidden treasures to the public eye.

“These are real treasures that were hidden away right here in Muncie for decades,” La France said. “We’re excited to bring those out of the closet and put them on display for everyone to see.”

The private collection was initially started about 40 years ago by printmakers and educators, David and Sarojini Johnson. They began collecting prints that tell a story based on the time period they were created in.

“This collection contains more than 25 creative artists who are known for their quality and social impacts through their artwork,” La France said. “Many of these pieces are very inspiring.”

The collection is titled A Wild Story, inspired to showcase social, political and personal significance behind each print and each artist.

“It’s a beautiful exhibit,” La France said. “I can’t wait for everyone to come and admire these stories and prints.”

The exhibition is open to the public Feb. 23 through May 21 and is located on the second floor of the Fine Arts Building on Ball State University’s campus.
