July 18, 2022, in the fifth round (161st pick) of the 2022 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft, Ball State Baseball left-handed pitcher Tyler Schweitzer has been selected by the Chicago White Sox.

In the 2022 season, Schweitzer was named Mid-American Conference (MAC) Pitcher of the Year after putting up an 11-2 win/loss record, posting a 2.65 earned run average (ERA), allowing a .205 batting average, pitching 91 and 2/3 innings, allowing 30 walks and striking out 112 batters. Along with his Pitcher of the Year honor, Schweitzer was named to the 2022 All-MAC First Team.

Schweitzer also helped lead the Cardinals to a MAC Regular Season Championship and Ball State came within one win of a MAC Championship Tournament victory and an NCAA Regionals berth. Additionally, Schweitzer is a Fishers, Indiana native and helped lead Hamilton Southeastern to an Indiana 4A High School Baseball State Championship in 2019.

A more in-depth accompanying piece featuring Schweitzer and Ball State Baseball head coach and 2022 MAC Coach of the Year Rich Maloney's (among potential others) reactions is coming soon.
