On day two of the Indiana High School Boys Golf State Finals, Delta High School Boys Golf junior Riley Bratton shot an 85, three points better than his score from day one. Bratton finished his trip to the State Finals with a total score of 173, meaning he was 29 over par.

Going into day two, Bratton said he had a better feel of the course, the weather situation and his game than he did on day one. Bratton said he dealt with the intense heat the same way he did in preparation for day one, drinking plenty of water and Gatorade.

He said he felt he started off strong, and things got away from him a bit as time progressed, though he did pick up a birdie on hole 13. Reflecting on his time at the State Finals, although he was disappointed he didn't generate better results, Bratton was happy to even be competing at such a high stage.

"It's awesome," Bratton said. "I played at this course one time, I knew it was the home of the State Finals, and I kind of thought to myself, 'maybe this could be me someday.'"

After day one, Bratton said having support from his friends, family and coaches helped ease his nerves while playing. He went into more detail about how having support from Delta's Athletic Director Tilmon Clark, Delta Boys Golf head coach Steve Wuthrich and Delta Boys and Girls Tennis head coach Tim Cleland especially helped him, heading into the biggest two days of his golf career.

Bratton said he will use each day of the State Finals, as well as the entire season, as a learning experience heading into his senior year.

"It's definitely been one to remember," Bratton said. "I'll use all this information I got this season in the summer to ensure I'm back [at the State Finals] next year."
