June 21, Ball State Baseball and the Cardinals' head coach Rich Maloney announced assistant coach Blake Beemer has accepted the head baseball coach position at Butler University. Beemer spent the last four seasons at Ball State as an assistant coach after spending four years as a Ball State Baseball player.

After graduating from Ball State in 2013 with his Bachelor's Degree and subsequently in 2014 with a Master's of Business Administration (MBA), Beemer served as a volunteer coach at Penn State University from 2014-15. From 2016-18, Beemer was an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Eastern Illinois University before returning to Ball State to become an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator from 2019-2022.

Most notably as a coach for Ball State Baseball, in the 2022 season, Beemer assisted the Cardinals to a Mid-American Conference (MAC) Regular Season Championship and came within one victory of winning the MAC Championship Tournament, resulting in a trip to NCAA Regionals. Nevertheless, Ball State went 40-19 on the season while Beemer served as the recruiting coordinator as well as the outfield and catcher coach, and assisted with hitting along with defensive placement.

As a player, Beemer was a captain for three years on the Cardinals and hit for a .286 career batting average with 94 RBI.

Maloney sent out a Tweet announcing Beemer's departure at 10:35 a.m. June 21.

"We celebrate Blake Beemer as Butler's new head coach with great joy and a tiny bit of sadness," Maloney said. "Blake was a three-time captain at Ball State and exemplified everything we want out of our student-athletes, a leader on and off the field, an excellent student earning his bachelor's and MBA from Ball State, and a dedicated baseball player. For the last four years, he served as my right-hand man, recruiting coordinator, outfield coach, and catcher coach, assisting me with our hitters, defensive positioning, etc.No task was too small or too large for him to handle. He would always ask me, is there anything else I could do for you, coach? Blake always wanted me to give him more. He is a continual learner, always wanting to improve himself. He is an outstanding recruiter and tireless worker. On the one hand, I am sad to see him go but thrilled that he will have the opportunity to run his own program and significantly impact the lives of the student-athletes he will coach."
