Things to do in Delaware County this weekend (June 17-19)

This Father's Day weekend, June 17-19, those looking for things to do may be in luck. There are a plethora of events taking place in Muncie, Indiana, and the surrounding Delaware County areas.

Below is a list of a handful of events, along with a brief description of each:

Shrek at the Muncie Civic Theatre

The Muncie Civic Theatre's last production of the 2021-22 season is Shrek, an act that has been showing every weekend since June 3. This weekend, Shrek is scheduled to show Thursday, June 16-Saturday June 18 at 7:30 p.m., with a June 19 Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m.

Tonne Music Series at Tonne Winery

Friday, June 17, The Meanies are set to perform at Tonne Winery in Muncie from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This is part of Tonne Winery's Tonne Music Series, a series that features artists and bands every Friday for a number of months.

In addition to The Meanies' performance, food trucks La Patrona and Farmland BBQ Co. are scheduled to serve food at the event. For more information regarding this event or Tonne Winery itself, visit here.

Juneteenth 2022 Celebration

Juneteenth is a celebration of the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and a general celebration of Black culture. Muncie is host to said celebration annually and this year's celebration is scheduled to come the day before the actual holiday.

From 3-9 p.m., Saturday, June 18 (rain date of Saturday, July 9) at Mcculloch Park Muncie's 2022 Juneteenth celebration is set to be held. According to a Facebook post from Juneteenth Muncie:

"Juneteenth is a day of celebration, honoring the past and creating the future. A day that the entire city can come together and enjoy a time in the McCulloch. A reminder that we are one city; one community and we are Better Together.

Our focus is to Engage, Educate & Empower! Our goal is to bring the community together, educate everyone, on the importance of Juneteenth, enjoy the day with our community and empower people to stay strong during these trying times.

With the help and generous support of our sponsors, we will have free food from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. There will be family-friendly activities, games, bands, spoken word, singers, dancers, DJ, giveaways, prizes, inflatables, photo booth, Championship Wrestling & so much more. Food/Merchandise Vendors and Community Tables will be available. Bring your family, tent, lawn chair, cooler and enjoy a day in the park."

DWNTWN GAME NIGHT

Saturday, June 18, from 7-11 p.m. at Canan Commons in Muncie, Wealth Strategies is hosting DWNTWN Game Night. The games at said event listed are as follows:

  • Rockstar Bingo—An Exciting Combination of Music Trivia and the Classic Game of Bingo

    • Hosted by Michelle Kinsey

    • Played on your phone. Download instructions available soon!

  • Roshambo Tournament

    • Hosted by The Fickle Peach

    • 36 team elimination tournament.

    • Pre-registration is required. Sign up at The Fickle Peach.

  • High Striker Show of Strength

  • Classic Tug o’ War

  • Yardzee

  • Giant Jenga

  • Cornhole

  • Croquet

  • KUBB Viking Clash

  • Giant Parachute Play

  • Spoon and Egg Races

  • Inflatable bouncy ball races for all ages

In addition to said games, there is scheduled to be food, alcoholic beverages and additional entertainment. According to the event page, "all games will be first come first serve, but will turn over to a new group of players after each game is completed. Sign up the night of the event with each game captain to get on the list to play."

Landess Farm Strawberry Festival

Saturday, June 18, the Landess Farm Festival is back for its second and last time of the month. This festival is held at 6000 W Co Rd 700 S, Daleville, IN 47334 from noon-5 p.m.

According to a release from Landess Farm Strawberry Festival:

"You CAN purchase tickets at the gate, but purchasing ahead of time helps us plan.

Your ticket includes:
- entry to the event
- hayride to the strawberry patch
- one pint of u-pick strawberries
Additional strawberries, produce, and baked goods will be available for purchase separately."
