May 27 Delaware County high school sports roundup: Multiple Sectional games are postponed

Five Delaware County High School baseball and softball Sectional games were scheduled to take place May 27. All were postponed and rescheduled for May 28.

Here are said games and when they've been rescheduled:

Baseball Sectional 24 (3A): Yorktown

In a first round matchup originally scheduled for May 25, Yorktown's (16-10) first round Sectional contest against Jay County (14-8) was postponed to May 26, then this same contest was postponed again and scheduled for May 27 at Yorktown High School. 

Due to weather, this contest has been postponed yet again. According to Yorktown Athletics, who hosts Sectional 24, this game is now tentatively scheduled for 4:00 p.m. May 28.

The winner of this contest faces the winner of New Castle (13-5-1) V. Hamilton Heights (12-9) in a semifinal game, Monday May 30 at a time yet to be announced.

Baseball Sectional 55 (1A): Daleville and Cowan 

In two first round matchups, Daleville High School Baseball (4-20) was scheduled to face Southern Wells High School (6-14) and Cowan (13-9) was scheduled to face Liberty Christian High School (8-13) May 26 and both games were postponed. The Broncos (Daleville) were then scheduled to pick up their contest against the Raiders May 27, with the winner advancing to face Wes-Del (15-8) May 30 at 10 a.m. in a semifinal matchup and the Blackhawks (Cowan) were scheduled to face Liberty Christian (after Daleville V. Southern Wells) May 27, with the winner advancing to face the winner of Tri-Central (1-20) V. Anderson Prep Academy (0-14) May 30 at 12:30 p.m.

Accoridng to Daleville Athletics, both games have again been postponed, now scheduled for May 28. Daleville V. Southern Wells will begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. and Cowan V. Liberty Christian will begin at approximately 5:00 p.m.

All games in this sectional are to be held at Memorial Field, hosted by Anderson Prep Academy.

Softball Sectional 55 (1A): Cowan 

After defeating Wes-Del High School Softball (16-10) 9-6 May 24, Cowan (14-8) was set to compete for a Sectional Championship May 26 against Tri-Central High School (3-12-1) at Daleville High School, before being postponed again, like all the other scheduled Delaware County baseball or softball games scheduled for May 26. This game was set to be madeup May 27 at 5:00 p.m. at Daleville High School, however, it has again been postponed.

According to Daleville Athletics, who hosts Sectional 55, this game is now scheduled for 3:00 p.m. May 28.

Softball Sectional 24 (3A): Yorktown and Delta

No. 3 in 3A (coaches poll) Yorktown Softball (22-3) was scheduled to face Delta (10-14) in a semifinal matchup May 26 at Delta High School, however, as is a reocurring trend this week, this game was postponed and scheduled for May 27. This game has once again been postponed.

According to Delta Athletics, who hosts Sectional 24, the Tigers and Eagles are now set to face off at 10 a.m. May 28. The winner of this contest goes on to face the winner of New Castle High School (13-15) V. Guerin Catholic (8-11) (May 28 at noon) May 28 at 5 p.m. for the Sectional Championship.
