The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns against the use of e-cigarettes

MUNCIE, Ind.(NewsLink) - With more people turning to e-cigarettes to reduce their nicotine and tobacco intake compared to traditional smoking, questions have been raised, are e-cigarettes actually more beneficial to your health?

Among 33 states, there are now at least 450 possible cases of severe lung disease and six deaths associated with vaping.

The CDC’s incident manager, Dr. Dana Meaney-Delman had this to say,

“At this time, no one device, product or substance has been linked to all cases and continued investigation is needed to better understand if a true relationship exists between any specific product or substance and the illnesses we are observing in patients.”

President Donald Trump chimed in on the subject proposing to ban flavored e-cigarettes that he feels are attracting children. For now, consumers can still buy the products, and according to Nick Lacy, an employee at The Smoke Shop, business is as good as ever.

“Still as many people. I guess less people buying cart batteries now, but I mean there are still plenty,” Lacy said.

More information should be expected in the upcoming weeks, but as investigations are still ongoing, the CDC says people should avoid using e-cigarette products.
