Tickets to "Elf: The Musical" are available at the Emens box office or online.
Based on the 2003 movie staring Will Ferrell, “Elf: The Musical” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the John R. Emens Auditorium.
The story centers around Buddy the Elf, a man who grew up in the North Pole unaware he is a human, not an elf. When he discovers the truth, Buddy sets out on a journey of self-discovery in order to find his biological father.
In this production, Mark Fishback, Ball State alumnus and the actor who will be portraying Santa Claus, said “beloved moments from the 2003 instant classic” are included, but in the form of a musical.
“The styles vary from big band to swing jazz, and every one of them punctuates the story and gives new insight into familiar characters,” Fishback said.
Kristi Chambers, assistant director of marketing and communications for Emens Auditorium, said the production has a universal appeal.
“Christmas time is a time for joy and love," Chambers said. "This musical encompasses that in every way."
In addition to the performance, attendees will have the opportunity donate to the Muncie Fire Department’s Toys for Tots fundraiser. Those that donate will receive a buy-one-get-one free coupon to purchase tickets to any future, qualifying productions at Emens Auditorium or John J. Pruis Hall.
Tickets for the musical are $5 at the door and free in advance for Ball State students. Adult tickets for reserved seats start at $39 and youth are $20.
