Muncie police are continuing to investigate after a man was shot two times Thursday night.

Police and Delaware County EMS were dispatched to the intersection of Macedonia Ave. and E. Kirk St. a little after 9 p.m., according to Muncie Police dispatch.

The victim is a male who was shot once in the shoulder and once in the chest, according to a Muncie police investigator.

The investigator told the Ball State Daily News there was little cooperation at the scene. Witnesses told police it was a "random guy" that "ambushed" the victim, but investigators said they think that story is "highly improbable."

Some juvenile witnesses were taken in for questioning last night, but have since been released. Police have no suspects at this time.

The victim was taken to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital and his condition is unknown.

Police say the victim is still alive.
