Ball State played its second five set match in as many days Saturday, this time outlasting Eastern Michigan to pick up a much needed victory on senior night 3-2 (18-25, 25-17, 25-20, 23-25, 15-13).
The Cardinals won five straight points to erase a 13-10 deficit and win the decisive fifth set 15-13, capped off by a kill by junior opposite hitter Ellie Dunn that the Eastern defense could not return.
It was a wild fifth set for the Cardinals who trailed by as many as four in the final set, and were down by three points four different times before pulling off the comeback.
Senior opposite hitter Jessica Lindsey had her second-straight career night for the Cardinals, racking up a career high 14 kills and converted all four of her services. Dunn led Ball State with 15.
The Eagles saw four different players reach double figures in kills with Samantha Falco leading the way with 12. Eastern Michigan was led in digs by Alyssa LaFace with 23.
The two teams split the first two sets, and the Cardinals took the third set to take a 2-1 lead.
The fourth set was the first that saw a large amount of leas changes, with each side trading blows throughout. However, it would be Eastern Michigan who outlasted Ball State, forcing a deciding fifth set.
Ball State hosts Toledo next on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at Worthen Arena.
