The "Rocky Horror Picture Show" is returning to the Cornerstone Center for the Arts this September, along with many classes, workshops and fundraising events.

Cornerstone’s events cover a wide variety of interests, including art, history and dance to provide the chance for as many people as possible to get involved.

Kids and Paints

This workshop, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. today, isn’t just for children. While the program is designed for children ages 7 and older, adults are encouraged to paint too. A registration fee of $25 is required for anyone who paints, but those who don’t paint do not have to register.

Monthly Dance Club

Each month Cornerstone holds a social dance event for the community. The next scheduled meeting is at 7 p.m. Saturday. For $12, or $7 for students, participants will learn a style of dance for the first hour, and then enjoy open dancing until 10:30 p.m. No pre-registration is required to participate in this event.

Geography Biographies: Mapping Historic Lives

A collection of maps created and customized by Ball State University Libraries GIS Research and Map Collection will be part of this presentation, which discusses important places in the lives of historical figures. This free event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 20 in the Colonnade Room of Cornerstone.

Bad Art Night

This monthly event will be held at 6 p.m. on Sept. 21 in the Maring-Hunt Library, located at 2005 S. High St. Participants will be provided supplies and encouraged to make terrible art. Prizes will be given to the worst creations in several categories. The event is free and open to those 18 and older, but a $5 donation is suggested.

Coffee & Paints

Adults and children as young as fourth grade are welcome to enjoy coffee and painting, regardless of their skill level. Painting, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sept. 23, costs $25. Examples of paintings can be found on Cornerstone’s Facebook page

Pints & Paints

Cornerstone and The Fickle Peach are partnering to offer the monthly event "Pints & Paints" to community members 21 and older. The next upcoming workshop is being held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at The Fickle Peach. It will teach participants a step-by-step process of painting while they enjoy their favorite alcoholic beverages.

Fall FUNdraising Kick-Off VIP Event

This fall, Cornerstone is hoping to raise $15,000 in order to continue to offer financial aid scholarships and more. At 6:30 p.m. Sept. 30, the fundraising season will start with a ticketed event that includes performances by the Fabulous Funcie Femmes burlesque troupe and the Freakhouse Flicks. Tickets cost $25 and are available online, at Cornerstone from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday or by calling 765-281-9503. Included in the purchase of tickets is admission to Scarevania and Son of Scarevania on Oct. 7 or 8 and a free ticket to Rocky Horror Picture show, which will be shown immediately after this event.

"Rocky Horror Picture Show"

The Mark III Taproom and After Dark are partnering with Cornerstone to present an interactive showing of the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" featuring The Old Queen’s Men Shadow Cast. The event, which will start at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30 in the E.B. Ball Auditorium at Cornerstone, is for ages 18 and older. Tickets can be bought in advance for $10 online, by calling 765-281-9503, at Cornerstone’s second floor desk from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and at Mark III Taproom or After Dark’s Muncie, Marion and Anderson locations. On the day of the event, tickets cost $15. Until the show starts at 8 p.m., Freakhouse Flicks will be providing entertainment, and those who arrive early have the chance to receive a prop bag while supplies last. After the show, the cast will be performing again at the Mark III Taproom.
