A Muncie teenager was fatally shot outside Tuppee Tong Thai restaurant on West Main Street early Thursday afternoon.

Muncie Police Chief Joe Winkle confirmed the victim, 17-year-old Allayzia Jackson, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The incident is being investigated as a homicide.

After the woman was shot, the shooter, Marilyn Jackson, drove to City Hall and turned herself in.

Winkle confirmed the incident occurred after an earlier court proceeding.

"I don’t really have all of the details, though, of what took place," Winkle said. "It was from a court proceeding that took place shortly before the shooting."

Police have not yet filed charges against the suspect.

Winkle said police now have the car and firearm in their possession. Police are currently interviewing Jackson.

No other injuries were reported.
