While in Pittsburgh last week, Trey Moses met last year’s three-time Grammy award-winning rap artist Chance the Rapper.

The Ball State basketball player purchased VIP tickets to his performance, allowing him to meet the 24-year-old rapper and snap a selfie that went viral on Twitter.

“We really didn’t talk about much; it was more of a kind of like ‘Hey’ and then we took the picture,” Moses said. “I was just so nervous to even talk to him.”

Moses, who first became familiar with Chance’s music during his verse in the Kanye West song “Ultralight Beam,” said that Chance has had a huge impact on his life.

After listening to that song off of “The Life of Pablo” album, Moses then began listening to more of the Chance's music online, where Chance does what no other Grammy-award winning artist does or has done.

Providing every mixtape he releases online – for free.

“When I first heard 'Ultralight Beam,' that’s probably my favorite verse of any song ever,” Moses said. “Then after that when [Chance] came out with ‘Coloring Book,’ that’s when I just fell in love with his music.”

Since listening to “Coloring Book,” released on May 13, 2016, Moses has continued to keep Chance the Rapper in his life.

The incoming college junior has a “3” tattoo on the right side of his chest, similar to the one Chance wears on his hat symbolizing his third mixtape, "Coloring Book." He even named his newly adopted dog Chancellor Bennett, after Chance's real name.

This isn’t the first-time Moses plans on meeting the rapper either. He plans on traveling later this summer in order to meet Chance one more time.

“I’m actually planning to go to a concert in Tampa, so when I go there I’m planning to buy VIP tickets again and talk to him a little bit more,” Moses said.

Chance will be performing in Tampa Bay on June 14 for the fourth to last show of his Spring Tour. Moses said he’s excited to meet Chance again and hopes that the rapper will recognize him the second time around.
